Solar Powers the Music Stage and Cools the Beer & Wine Tent at The Roundup

The Largest All Sustainable Festival in Texas

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas, Sept. 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- There will be several solar powered tents to watch for at the 12th Annual Renewable Energy Roundup & Green Living Fair (The Roundup) coming up September 29th and 30th. But it is the first year that The Roundup music stage is powered by solar energy. Mike Renner, North Texas Renewable Energy Group, NTREG a chapter of Texas Solar Energy Society is bringing his solar stage to The Roundup. Renner's solar system will 'keep the musicians charged' and power the cooler for the beer & wine tent. Folks can enjoy a New Belgium beer, a sustainably operated brewery from Colorado or a glass of Tempranillo red blend wine from Red Caboose Winery, a sustainable vineyard in Texas.

Gary McKibben, founder of Red Caboose Winery and a practicing architect designing wineries in Texas will speak at The Roundup on vineyard sustainability and ways to implement renewable energy technologies at Texas vineyards. He will present ideas and concepts for sustainable winery design and use of renewable energy systems. Some of the concepts will include site orientation, gravity design, shading, geothermal cooling and chilling, and rainwater collection for irrigation. McKibben says that renewable energy is both financially and environmentally beneficial to vineyards in Texas.

Escaping to the Texas Hill Country is a fun way to kick off the fall season. People come from across Texas, from communities small and large, to The Roundup. The fair is a favorite of both businesses and attendees making it the largest all-sustainable fair in Texas. Michael Krobot, ClimateMaster Windows, Mason, TX said, "I've been coming to the Roundup for 8 years. I think there's more enthusiasm and energy in this show than any other. It is due to people's interest in alternative energy resources. The cost of our conventional ways of getting energy are going to go up so people know they need to make changes now. You can feel that enthusiasm building.
