Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta Announces Chair and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors


ATLANTA, Dec. 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta (FHLBank Atlanta) today announced the results of the 2012 election for chair and vice chairman of the board of directors.

Donna C. Goodrich, Chair

FHLBank Atlanta board members elected Donna C. Goodrich, senior executive vice president of Branch Banking & Trust Company (BB&T) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, as chair of FHLBank Atlanta's Board of Directors. Ms. Goodrich was named to the BB&T Executive Management team in December 2006. She also has served as deposit services manager of BB&T since 2004. Ms. Goodrich joined BB&T in 1985, and has held the positions of retail services officer, financial center manager, mergers and acquisitions analyst, asset/liability management specialist, and deposit and corporate funding manager. Ms. Goodrich serves on several committees, including the BB&T Market Risk, Liquidity, and Capital Committee. Ms. Goodrich began serving on FHLBank Atlanta's Board of Directors in 2008. During her tenure on the board, Ms. Goodrich has served as chair and vice chair of the Finance Committee, chair of the Credit and Member Services Committee, and as a member of the Audit, Human Resources, Executive, and Enterprise Risk and Operations Committees of the board.

William C. Handorf, Ph.D., Vice Chairman

FHLBank Atlanta board members also re-elected William C. Handorf, professor of finance and real estate at the George Washington University School of Business in Washington, D.C., as vice chairman of FHLBank Atlanta's Board of Directors. Dr. Handorf began his career with the George Washington University in 1975. From 2001 to 2006, he served as a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond's Baltimore Branch, including two years as chair. From 1992 to 1995, Dr. Handorf served as a private citizen director of the FHLBank System's Office of Finance. He was appointed to FHLBank Atlanta's Board of Directors in 2007. During his tenure on the board, Dr. Handorf has served as chair and vice chair of the Audit and Finance Committees, vice chair of the Executive Committee, and as a member of the Credit and Member Services, Enterprise Risk and Operations, Governance and Compensation, and Housing and Community Investment Committees of the board.
