Elliptical Mobile Solutions Introduces R.A.S.E.R. Agility in Row Cooling

CHANDLER, Ariz., Aug. 21, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Elliptical Mobile Solutions (EMS) today announced it is introducing a dynamic new Micro-Modular Data Center product line that offers the agility to adapt to ever-changing density requirements in any data center environment both indoors and outdoors.

The R.A.S.E.R. Agility in Row Cooling solution offers flexible densities - from 2.5KW to 80KW per cabinet - with little to no additional engineering or building modifications. Operators can add additional cabinets with scalable densities within the same row without having to worry about how higher density cabinets will impact the rest of the data center.

"This will allow data center operators to quickly and easily respond to conditions as they happen," said Tony Cole, CEO of EMS. "We believe this new product is a game changer in that it offers an in row cooling solution that can be deployed anywhere anytime while significantly reducing complexity, cost and deployment time."

While there are a number of data center in row cooling solutions on the market today, they require a room to be built out and engineered to accommodate circulating air and environmental conditions. The new R.A.S.E.R. Agility in Row Cooling can operate in any environment as the solution is engineered, leveraging EMS's patented closed-loop cooling within the row, creating shared cold and hot aisle plenums. These completely sealed enclosures include onboard cooling, security and fire suppression.

Because the units are self-contained with standard NEMA 3R or optional NEMA 4 environmental packages, no infrastructure modifications are required to protect them from dust, dirt, water, and humidity as well as temperature variations.

The units require a smaller amount of air volume further reducing cooling and operating costs to support energy-efficient environments.

Other advantages include: N+1 scalable "pay as you grow" modularity; eliminates traditional fixed brick & mortar infrastructure; rapid deployment; and resiliency against natural disasters, random or coordinated attacks and accidents.

In addition to the technical advantages described above, EMS has created leasing partnerships that will enable companies to scale the solution financially as well as technically. "By leveraging our financial partnerships, clients can dramatically reduce their initial costs of deploying data center infrastructure and spread those costs out over a period of years," Cole said.

According to IMS Research's recent study, "The World Market for Data Center Cooling – 2012 Edition," data centers require specialized cooling to handle the heating load from IT equipment. The increasing computing capacity of new servers of greater power density has created the need to cool "hot-spots" in the data center more efficiently. Rack and row level cooling are the most suitable solutions.

While the EMS Micro-Modular Data Center line, until now, has been focused on data center cooling at the rack level, Cole believes this new product will be the perfect fit for co-location and managed service providers whose clients have changing density requirements; small, medium and large data centers with cooling problems and hot spots; and data centers in remote and non-standard locations throughout the world.
