Hang w/ Passes One Million Downloads

Live Streaming Social Media Platform Achieves Impressive Milestone in Only Nine Months

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Jan. 21, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Hang w/, the premier live-streaming video, social-media platform, announced today that the application has surpassed the coveted million-download milestone.

Hang w/ hit the million-download mark in only nine months since its release in March 2013. Hang w/ connects people through live streaming video and simultaneous chat, allowing anyone with an iPhone, iPad or Android device to broadcast and share experiences live with friends, family and followers worldwide.

The platform was created in part to help celebrities and those with large followings to build a more authentic social media relationship with fans. But the platform's growth has also been driven by ordinary people around the globe who use Hang w/ to openly share their lives via live streaming.

Recently the company announced an update to the app allowing it to stream live to Facebook, enabling users to share broadcasts in real time. This allows live Hang w/ content to go viral across other social media platforms regardless of whether or not viewers have the Hang w/ application.

Years in the making, the Hang w/ application was incubated by MEDL Mobile and was released to the market in March of 2013. It passed the 100,000 downloads mark in less than two months. The platform reached 500,000 users after only six months.

"This is an amazing accomplishment," stated Andrew Maltin, CEO and Founder of Hang With, Inc. "To reach a million downloads in such a short amount of time speaks volumes for the viral nature of the platform. Although we're even more excited about what's coming next with new partners, new talent and some exciting new deals in the pipeline."

Maltin added, "It's also impressive to note that we reached the million download milestone faster than Twitter at 24 months, Pinterest at 20 months, Foursquare at 13 months and even Facebook at 10 months."

Downloads of Hang w/ have been largely driven by social media support from many notable musicians, athletes, actors and entertainers who use the platform to build a meaningful social media relationship with their fans. To date, the Hang w/ platform has attracted more than 100 celebrities and athletes including Larry the Cable Guy, 50 Cent, Timbaland, Kaskade, Paula Abdul, Terrell Owens, Cheech and Chong, and Jamie Kennedy.

"When we set out to build this platform, we really wanted to create authentic interpersonal relationships using social media," said Dave Swartz, President and Chief Creative Officer. "We believe people are tired of the inauthentic use of social media and Hang w/ represents something completely different from what's available today. Live streaming video with simultaneous chat is as real as it gets - and we are thrilled to see how people have adopted and embraced the technology."
