Covisint to Detail Best Approach, New Requirements for Identity Management of "Connected Things"

Chief Security Officer to Present at RSA 2014 on New, Required Approach to Identifying, Overcoming Security Risks

DETROIT, Feb. 20, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Covisint Corporation (Nasdaq:COVS), provider of the leading cloud engagement platform, today announced that its Chief Security Officer, David Miller, will present at the RSA Conference's Briefing Center on a new approach to security and identity management on "connected things."

Miller, who previously testified to the U.S. Senate on cloud security, will lead RSA security- and identity-focused attendees in understanding how:

  • deep the security and identity complexities are in a "connected things" world;
  • access varies by device, brand and manufacturer, compounding the problem;
  • time-consuming it is for ease-of-use-driven consumers to set preferences as billions and billions of devices continue to come online; and, importantly,
  • manufacturers strategically adopting customer-centric and cloud-based connected device programs will win over consumers.

The Covisint CSO also will show the benefits of a cloud-based "portable" identity, including: ease-of use/freedom of movement; the additional security layers protecting end-users and how much easier it will be to manage multiple devices while also "de-provisioning" or deleting settings once devices are lost, obsolete or thrown away.

"It's a new, interconnected world, and the internet of things is increasing the attack space exponentially," said Miller. "Securing connected things properly, especially early in the process, can mean the difference between corporate success and failure. Organizations who understand this and adapt will be poised for relevancy, growth and profits."

Who should attend:

VPs of technology, infrastructure or security; chief security officers and technicians; RSA Conference attendees and anyone interested in security and identity management (particularly in the cloud)

When, where: 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, RSA Briefing Center
