Prof. Kennedy is Head of the Nuffield Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Oxford with 30 years of specialization in obstetrics, gynecology and women's reproductive health.

Prof. Kennedy completed his specialist training at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. He has been a medical advisor to the American Endometriosis Association; a member of the UK All Party Parliamentary Group on Endometriosis, and a Trustee of the patient self-help group, Endometriosis UK. In addition, he is a founding board member of the World Endometriosis Research Foundation, and he has prepared clinical guidelines for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists on the management of chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis. Since 2006, he has jointly led the INTERGROWTH-21st Project, an international consortium which aims to understand how women's health affects fetal and newborn growth. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious "Arnaldo Bruno" award for Gynaecology by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in Rome.
