CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Mar 25, 2014) - The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) gained 9 points in March, recovering to7. This is the highest month-to-month gain in six months. The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) increased 4 points to 9.
The indices measure the investment confidence and outlook of households with more than $500,000 of investable assets and more than $1 million of investable assets, respectively.
"Recent market rebounds are driving the current surge in Affluent investor confidence and outlook," said George H. Walper, Jr., president of Spectrem Group. "The indices have see-sawed in the last several months with market volatility. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ are both higher this month and the Dow is only slightly lower than at the first of the year. Coupled with this are recent encouraging government economic reports, including a substantial decrease in initial claims for unemployment benefits, and a better-than-expected jobs report that was issued earlier in March."
When asked what they consider to be the most serious threat to achieving their financial goals, the highest percentage of Affluent investors said the economy and market conditions, an indication that they are not currently as concerned with international problems such as the crisis in Ukraine or inflation.

The Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI ®) is based on 250 monthly online interviews with the financial decision-makers in households with $500,000 or more in investable assets. The Index has a margin of error of plus or minus 6.2 percentage points. The Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI ®) is based on a subset of the overall survey group.
