MERRILL, WI--(Marketwired - Jun 23, 2014) - Hurd Windows and Doors announced that due to the dramatic job growth at its Superseal Windows and Doors manufacturing facility in Merrill, Wisconsin, the City of Merrill has agreed to convert a $200,000 TID Loan into a non-repayable development grant.
Under the terms of the agreement, if Superseal created 75 new jobs by December 15, 2014, the loan would be considered a development incentive with no repayment requirements. As of June 1st, the vinyl windows and doors manufacturer had already significantly surpassed its jobs creation goal.
According to Hurd Vice President of Administration and Operations Scott Albers, the dramatic increase in job creation is attributed to the growth in demand for Superseal's vinyl windows and doors. "The expansion of Superseal's national and international availability since we moved to Merrill has certainly driven demand," Albers said. "We have even exceeded our expectations, as Superseal's sales are well above last year, as are our forecasts for the coming year."
Albers explained that there are a number of factors in the success of Superseal's windows and doors, including: premium aesthetics and construction; use of heavy duty extrusions; the largest selection of performance glazings, including Ultra-R™ featuring Heat Mirror™ suspended films; and an unlimited number of exterior colors, where consumers can choose from 15 decorator colors, or Superseal will match virtually any color in the rainbow.
Hurd, which purchased Superseal Windows and Doors in January 2011, invested in equipment and upgrades to the Merrill facility to convert it for Superseal production. Production was consolidated at the Merrill plant in 2012.
