News Release: AkzoNobel launches new Interplan Mobile service

June 27, 2014

AkzoNobel has introduced a mobile-enabled maintenance and repair service designed to reduce costs and improve safety for its protective coating and passive fire protection customers.

Known as Interplan Mobile, the technology delivers detailed corrosion survey information directly to customers via a personalized extranet site, helping to quickly identify the areas in most need of attention.

The in-depth reports combine both photographic and on-site data to provide a full condition report, saving the customer both time and money by avoiding costly coating repairs later in the lifecycle of an asset.

Describing Interplan Mobile as the next generation in corrosion surveys, Ian Walker, Director of the company's Protective Coatings business, said: "It's an excellent example of how we are continuing to strive towards innovation, not only in our coatings, but also in the service we provide to our customers."

"By offering this technology, we can potentially help to reduce plant shutdown time and, in turn, reduce costs, as well as helping customers to better plan the spending of their maintenance budgets," Ian Walker added.

"The launch of Interplan Mobile means we are now better equipped than ever to fully meet the needs of our International paint customers," said Conrad Keijzer, AkzoNobel's Executive Committee member responsible for Performance Coatings.

Capitalizing on the native iPad software, AkzoNobel's expert teams of coatings and corrosion inspectors can now complete a site survey up to 40 percent quicker than a traditional, manual inspection.

The new service also gives a customer the ability to choose the level of survey they require, with all results being delivered online, straight to customers' internet-enabled devices.

Interplan Mobile's introduction follows on from the company's recent launch of Intertrac, the shipping industry's first software system enabling ship owners and operators to accurately assess and predict the risk of hull fouling dependent on the route their vessels are transiting.
