AkzoNobel verkoopt 50 procent aandeel in Eka Synthomer Oy joint venture

AkzoNobel maakte vandaag de verkoop bekend van haar 50 procent aandeel in de niet-geconsolideerde joint venture met Eka Synthomer Oy aan Synthomer. De partijen kwamen een bedrag van €5 miljoen overeen.

De verkoop van deze aandelen volgt na een strategische herziening van de activiteiten binnen het portfolio van AkzoNobel.

Niek Stapel, Managing Director Pulp and performance Chemicals, zei hierover: "Na de bekendmaking van de voorgenomen verkoop van Paper Chemicals aan Kemira eerder dit jaar, hebben we na de voltooiing van deze transactie geen belangen meer in deze markt.

"De verkoop van ons belang in Eka Synthomer Oy stelt ons in staat zowel op onze sterke chemische platformen, als op onze leidende posities in bleekmiddelen, colloidal silica, Kromasil en microbolletjes te concentreren." De naam Eka blijft kernonderdelen van AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals.

Eka Synthomer Oy is een niet-geconsolideerde joint venture tussen AkzoNobel Pulp and Performance Chemicals en Synthomer. Eka Synthomer Oy is gevestigd in Finland en produceert en verkoopt styreen-butadieen latexproducten voor de papier- en kartonindustrie, voornamelijk in Scandinavische landen.
