National Interstate Insurance: Igniting Careers With New College Graduate Training Program

RICHFIELD, Ohio, Dec. 4, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- National Interstate Insurance launched its inaugural Ignition Training Program, designed for newly-hired recent college graduates, earlier this year and is now recruiting for its 2015 class. The company developed the program to enhance the career experience of its new recruits by helping them better understand National Interstate's culture as well as the transportation and specialty insurance industry.

This year's Ignition class consisted of thirteen trainees who spent the summer being trained about the company and its business prior to assuming positions in various departments including marketing, accounting, risk management, product management, underwriting, claims, and information technology. The Ignition Training Program encompassed a wide range of educational topics including insurance coverage and overall business and professional development. It also featured department-specific sessions taught by the National Interstate business leaders who actually oversee the departments. The trainees also spent time in their respective departments to become better acquainted with their coworkers and new positions.

"We were very excited to launch the Ignition Training Program as it is a great way for graduates to kick start their careers at National Interstate," said Michelle Wiltgen, Assistant Vice President at National Interstate. "Transitioning from college to a career in a complex industry such as ours can be overwhelming. Our objective for Ignition was to create a platform that provides participants access to all the tools, resources, and relationships they need to become more effective in their roles. The program also allows the new hires to start contributing quickly to their personal career goals as well as our company mission."

"It's all about the people at National Interstate and we recognize that we must have a pipeline of talented professionals to fuel our company's ongoing growth," said Tony Mercurio, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at National Interstate. "We are proud to offer the Ignition Training Program as an important part of our recruiting efforts. It brings new team members an excellent opportunity to truly understand and embrace our company's culture as well as gain a better understanding of the unique world of transportation and specialty insurance.  Our inaugural program was a tremendous success and we are already making plans for our 2015 class. We are confident that the Ignition Training Program will help us attract more talented recruits with the potential to become future leaders at National Interstate."
