Empowered Chiropractic Offers Sustained Acoustic Medicine Device to Danville, CA & West Coast

DANVILLE, Calif., Feb. 22, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Empowered Chiropractic recently announced its acquisition of the Sustained Acoustic Medicine (SAM) system to help patients recover more quickly after muscle and tendon injuries. The SAM unit was created to rehabilitate muscle, tendon, and other tissue that requires consistent sustained physical therapy. The SAM unit is the first of its kind to be cleared for 4 hours of continuous use by the FDA. Empowered Chiropractic is one of the few practices on the West Coast to currently offer the device.

The SAM system uses ultrasound to help patients recover more quickly after an injury. The unit speeds recovery by increasing circulation, improving joint flexibility, and reducing muscle spasms. The Sustained Ultrasound Therapy unit also offers pain relief by way of reducing inflammatory pain in patients.

Patients can wear the same device for up to four hours per session to alleviate pain and promote healing. The battery-powered device consists of a power-and-control unit attached to a pad. The pad is then placed on the affected area to increase blood flow and provide other restorative benefits.

Aside from pain relieving effects, users also report a warming sensation when wearing the pad. Because of this, Dr. Mahsa of Empowered Chiropractic recommends the device not just for physical therapy patients, but for anyone who suffers from chronic pain. The device helps pain that originates with joints, muscles, and connective tissue. The device also helps to combat inflammation.

Who can utilize the SAM unit? Nearly anyone with chronic joint, muscle, or tendon pain, as well as most patients who are recovering from a similar physical injury. The only times the device should not be used is when the injury is close to the spinal cord, brain, reproductive organs, or over a bone fracture that is still healing.

The SAM unit available is not an over-the-counter medical device. It is currently available only by prescription. Dr. Mahsa Khodabaksh, a Danville, CA chiropractor, is one of the few doctors on the West Coast who provides the FDA-licensed Sustained Acoustic Medicine device to patients.

Dr. Mahsa first pursued a career in medicine in 1997, when she began her pre-med studies at UC Davis. After undergoing physical therapy, she was so impressed with the results of chiropractic in her own life, that she studied it in order to work with others. She received her degree from Life Chiropractic College West in 2010.

Dr. Mahsa's Empowered Chiropractic practice specializes in sports injuries and rehabilitation, car accident injuries, neurological damage pediatrics, as well as other fields.
