PCS Edventures Inc. Announces Girls In STEM Product Release

PCSV announces its new Girls Can Build product for STEM education.

BOISE, Idaho, March 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - PCS Edventures, Inc. (PCSV), a leading K12 education company focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math solutions for the K12 market today announced the official release of its Girls Can Build product, a direct response to the need for programs that will promote science and engineering careers to girls. Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) education is a global education buzzword with attention at all levels of federal, state, and local governments as countries race to become more innovative and competitive in today's global economy. According to Forbes, in the United States, just one in seven engineers are female, only 27% of all computer science jobs are held by women, and women have seen no employment growth in STEM jobs since 2000.

The PCS Edventures "Girls Can Build" product was the result of a major market need evidenced by the growing number of initiatives related to recruiting more girls into STEM fields. According to figures published by the National Girls Collaborative Project, an organization founded to facilitate collaboration between organizations promoting STEM education to girls, their organization currently facilitates the collaboration of some 12,800 organizations servicing 8.35 million girls. The US Office of Science and Technology Policy specifically addresses and promotes the participation of women and girls in STEM fields. Intel and the Intel Foundation, Micron, Ford, and hundreds of other organizations have all committed funds to addressing this nationwide need.

Robert Grover, co-CEO, said of the product release, "This product is timely matching a significant market need with our deep expertise in STEM education. PCS program developers have worked closely with classroom educators, engineers, and curriculum designers to create a product that we are very excited to see available on the market now."

The Girls Can Build product is part of the PCS BrickLab product line that includes over twenty curriculum titles. Documented effective through university research, the PCS BrickLab provides a rich resource for STEM activities from early childhood through the elementary grades and has been deployed into thousands of diverse learning environments since its inception. During the 2014 calendar year, PCS worked closely with its manufacturing partners overseas to expand the color palette of the kit, as well as migrate manufacturing to a new, more robust production facility. The expanded colors are available for the first time to buyers of the new Girls Can Build product that will directly impact girls all over the country through engaging STEM activities.
