Vanliner Insurance Celebrates Five Successful Years as a National Interstate Subsidiary

FENTON, Mo., July 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Vanliner Insurance Company proudly celebrates its five year anniversary as part of the National Interstate group of insurance companies. National Interstate expanded its footprint in the transportation insurance industry by acquiring Vanliner from UniGroup, Inc., in July of 2010.

"Vanliner has been an extremely successful acquisition for us," stated Tony Mercurio, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of National Interstate. "It allowed us to align with some very talented and experienced people in the moving and storage insurance business, and to introduce National Interstate's innovative insurance products to this industry."

Located in the St. Louis suburb of Fenton, Missouri, Vanliner has been a premier provider of insurance products for the moving and storage industry since 1978. Capitalizing on National Interstate's expertise in alternative risk transfer (ART), or captive, insurance, Vanliner introduced three new group captive and five large account rental captive programs, representing nearly 100 customers. In addition, Vanliner launched separate affinity insurance programs endorsed by the Allied Agents Association, North American Movers Association, Arpin Van Lines, and UniGroup (parent company of United and Mayflower Van Lines). Since the acquisition, Vanliner has experienced significant growth in its household goods moving and storage business, while at the same time expanding its presence in the home delivery marketplace. The Company's most recent innovations include a Workers' Compensation Pay-As-You-Go billing option, and expanded loss prevention and risk management services focused on assisting clients to improve their safety programs.

"Vanliner has been serving the household goods moving community for 37 years with a steadfast commitment of providing stable and consistent protection throughout all market cycles," said Ray Wise, President of Vanliner. "Since 2010, National Interstate has continued that legacy of industry dedication by expanding our product portfolio, as well as our capabilities to assist customers better manage their cost of risk."

"Vanliner embraces our client-focused culture of building partnerships, understanding the industry, and having the desire and capability to design insurance programs that enhance our customer's business," said Tony Mercurio.  "Vanliner has truly adopted the National Interstate philosophy of building an insurance experience around the client, which serves as the foundation for maintaining our longstanding customer relationships and building new ones for years to come."
