New York State Announces Medical Marijuana Licenses

The Capsule Consulting Group is Ready to Serve This Emerging Market

NEW YORK, July 31, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Capsule Consulting Group (TCCG), a full-service capsule manufacturer, with over 30 years of experience in encapsulation, formulation and dosage control, is ready to serve New York’s emerging medical cannabis market.

When Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature enacted the Compassionate Care Act, they created a new model for medical marijuana laws unlike anything seen elsewhere in the medical cannabis industry. Under this law only patients with the most serious conditions are allowed access to medical cannabis. The law prohibits all combustible forms of cannabis, as well as all of the cannabis-laced food products (such as brownies and candies) that are popular elsewhere. Instead, delivery is limited to tinctures, sublinguals, transdermals, vaporizable oils and capsules.

The five licenses announced today for growing, producing, processing and dispensing cannabis in the state are the only licenses being issued. The organizations that were awarded these five licenses are: Bloomfield Industries Inc.; Columbia Care NY LLC; Empire State Health Solutions; Etain, LLC; and PharmaCann LLC.

“New York is showing the rest of the world that cannabis does not need to be smoked or ingested in its raw form in order to receive its benefits,” states Jonathan Gilinski, CEO of TCCG. “In fact, by mandating more ‘medical’ delivery systems, this Act helps move the industry away from recommending the use of ‘marijuana,’ towards prescribing patients beneficial medicine that happens to be derived from cannabis.”

TCCG’s services and experience are a perfect fit for the mandates of the Compassionate Care Act, as TCCG offers turnkey solutions for producers who want to encapsulate their product for better medicinal appeal.

Especially important for the New York market is TCCG’s unique ability to create accurately-dosed formulas that comply with the state’s new dosage standards; in fact, TCCG is one of the few organizations worldwide that has this capability. In addition, TCCG offers premium capsules, including Enteric Coated Capsules that provide timed release, for encapsulating either oils or powders; help with brand differentiation; assistance with facility design, capsule machine sourcing and installation, full staff training; and more.

“We anticipate that the New York model will be followed by other states as well,” adds Gilinski, “and we’re here to assist anyone in the emerging medical cannabis industry that wants to take advantage of the benefits of encapsulation.”
