HARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 21, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- With motor vehicle crashes being the #1 health concern for teenagers throughout the nation, Connecticut Children's Injury Prevention Center is announcing a brand new educational opportunity that will raise awareness and award 20 Connecticut students with $500, made possible by a grant from The Allstate Foundation.
The road-safety oriented Capstone Project will provide high school seniors across Connecticut the opportunity to share knowledge and ideas on teen driver safety while familiarizing them with the capstone experience. Participants are encouraged to complete the project and submit a final research/reflection paper assignment to the Injury Prevention Center by May 20, 2016.
"This is a great opportunity for high school students to take a leadership role in their school and in their community on driving safety," said Kevin Borrup, Associate Director of the Injury Prevention Center.
Papers based on completed projects will be judged on a 16-point scale and awards will be given to the 20 highest scoring writers in June of 2016. The Injury Prevention Center will be available to students looking to consult with content experts. A student may submit only one paper, however, there is no limit to the number of paper submissions from any participating school.
