The Eye Doctors Receives Cooper Vision's 2015 Best Practices Award

TAMPA, Fla., March 27, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Eye Doctors, with locations in Tampa and New Port Richey, Florida, are recipients of Cooper Visions 2015 Best Practices Award.  The award is bestowed upon practices, big or small, that employ a visionary and innovative approach to eye care to "best serve patients and elevate the profession." Cooper Vision conducted a nationwide search before choosing 10 practices to receive the inaugural award.

Cooper Vision chose The Eye Doctors as one its first 10 recipients of this prestigious award. The Eye Doctors approach to patient education and an "ownership attitude" set them apart from other nominees. Each examination room at The Eye Doctors employs iPads to aid in patient education with relative informative videos on symptoms, eye diseases, and planned procedures. Each doctor has a scribe which allows the optometrist to focus solely on the patient and his or her symptoms rather than data input. In addition, employees at either location of The Eye Doctors are allowed a degree of autonomy in their work and each one sets their own career plans. This practice allows employees to affect the practice in positive ways.

"Obviously, we are thrilled to receive this award," stated Dr. Samuel Teske of The Eye Doctors. "We believe that the profession of optometry is constantly evolving and we want to ensure that we are always at the forefront of that evolution. We offer many high-tech services and use the latest technology available, but any practice can do that. I believe that it is our people and the trust we place in them, that sets us apart from other optometry practices.  The trust we place in our staff helps them not only take ownership of their own careers but our practice as well. They are as invested as I am in delivering the best customer service possible each and every day."

The Eye Doctors' offices offer comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages. Dr. Teske and his staff work with patients who have astigmatism, dry eyes, or allergies to find the perfect contact lenses. They also offer emergency eye care around the clock to treat eye emergencies such as pink eye, foreign body removals, contact lens complications, corneal ulcer treatments, eye pain, and sudden vision loss. "We realize that emergencies do not happen on a normal 8 to 5 schedule," stated Dr. Teske. "We believe it is important to be present for our current or former patients whenever an emergency may arise."
