Nebraska Methodist College will host its third annual health fair at Minne Lusa Elementary School. Numerous Omaha organizations will take part in this event, which centers on health promotion and community.

OMAHA, Neb., April 21, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nebraska Methodist College will soon welcome students of Minne Lusa Elementary and their families to the 3rd Annual Community Health Fair taking place on Tuesday, April 26th from 5 – 6:30 PM.

Nursing students from the college will once again host this important community event, which provides a free hot meal, raffle tickets and prizes, fun activities and a chance to interact and participate with many healthcare and community organizations, including North Omaha Area Health (NOAH), the Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance, the Florence Community Center, the Douglas County Health Department, Nebraska Poison Control, Susan G. Komen and more.

The highly anticipated event has gained momentum in recent years, with a turnout of 500 or more people expected for the upcoming get-together. The fair's aim is to provide education and engage families in healthy activities.

This year, the event has been coordinated by Bachelor of Science in Nursing students Michelle Rogers and Cody Wyatt.

"Nebraska Methodist College and OPS's Minne Lusa Elementary invite local businesses and organizations to give back to the greater Omaha community through contributions and volunteering in our annual health fair," said Cody.

"We will be providing health education and free screenings," said Michelle.  "Come join us at Minne Lusa for a fun and educational time!"

Children will receive vital testing for Body Mass Index, blood pressure, lead presence and more.  Activities include a meet and greet with the Omaha Fire and Police Departments, music, dancing, games and a free meal generously donated by community partners.

Anyone can show their support by making a donation through Nebraska Methodist College's Clark Center at 720 N. 87th St.  Toiletries, clothing, nonperishable food and raffle prizes, such as toys, are needed.
