CARMEL, Ind., Aug. 18, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Armando Santin, a member of the Theta-Gamma chapter at Rollins College, received the 2016 Cyril F. "Duke" Flad Outstanding Undergraduate Award from Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
The award was presented during the fraternity's 56th General Assembly and Stead Leadership Seminar held at the National Doral Resort in Miami. Named for Lambda Chi Alpha's second executive director, the award was created by Lambda Chi Alpha's Board of Directors in 1970 and is given to one undergraduate brother who has shown extraordinary dedication to his fraternity.
Santin graduated from Rollins last spring with a degree in economics and international relations. As an undergraduate member, he served his chapter as president and fraternity educator. He also received the Outstanding Senior in International Relations Award, the Edward Said Award for Excellence in Middle East Studies and the S. Truman Olin Jr. Award in economics. He was a member of the Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Honor Society and treasurer of the Latin American Student Association.
Aubrey Frazier, the assistant director of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Rollins, wrote in her recommendation letter: "During his time at Rollins College, Armando has had an outstanding commitment to enhancing not only the chapter experience for Theta-Gamma but the fraternal experience as a whole for Rollins College. I have not only seen Armando grow throughout his involvement in Lambda Chi Alpha but have seen the difference his leadership has been able to make. Armando impressed me with his care for the utmost values congruence within his chapter. He has always held himself and others to a high expectations."
