Study will be presented at national neonatal nursing conference

Olathe, Kan. –  Research featuring Innara Health’s NTrainer System will be presented at the 16th National Neonatal Nurses Conference/19th National Mother Baby Nurses Conference Sept. 8-10 in Nashville. The NTrainer System is an FDA-cleared medical device that assesses and develops non-nutritive suck (NNS) in infants and newborns born prematurely.

The research being presented shows that use of the NTrainer System, to provide patterned oral stimulation, resulted in significant reduction in length of stay (LOS) in preterm infants.  In published guidelines, the American Academy of Pediatrics defines oral feeding as one of the physiological competencies necessary for hospital discharge of preterm infants.

This latest research supports the use of the NTrainer System as part of an evidence-based approach to  infant feeding in the NICU and the resulting improvements in reducing LOS. The significant reduction in LOS suggests that oral stimulation – like that provided by the NTrainer System – not only enhances infants’ oral feeding but also promotes their developmental maturity.

Dr. Song will give her presentation, “Patterned Somatosensory Oral Stimulation in Very Preterm Infants Reduces Length of NICU Stay: Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial,” from 3:45-4:45 on Sept. 8 at the conference. The presentation is one of several in 2016 that have highlighted the benefits of the therapy provided by the NTrainer System.
