PowerCell obtains a European patent for a new innovation for the fuel cell stack PowerCell S2 - for a more compact, robust and steady fuel cell stack

POWERCELL OBTAINS A EUROPEAN PATENT FOR A NEW INNOVATION FOR THE FUEL CELL
STACK POWERCELL S2 - FOR A MORE COMPACT, ROBUST AND STEADY FUEL CELL STACK

Leading fuel cell company PowerCell Sweden AB (publ) http://www.powercell.se/
has obtained a new European patent. It is a new innovation to the fuel cell
stack PowerCell S2
http://www.powercell.se/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/S2_Fuel_Cell-150409.pdf , a
design of a flow field plate for fuel cells. With the new innovation, end
customers can expect a more compact fuel cell stack which simplifies
integration and opens up more potential applications, as well as a fuel cell
stack that is both steady and easier to use as it can handle a greater variety
of operating conditions, such as differences in temperature and humidity.

Fuel cells are expected to play a very important role in the transition towards
renewable fuels and the leading fuel cell company PowerCell Sweden AB is
continuously working on the development of new solutions and patents within
fuel cell technology. The company has now received an approved patent in Europe
for a new innovation for their fuel cell stack PowerCell S2.

The main advantage of the innovation, compared to other known solutions, is the
combination of maximizing of the active area and the creation of an integrated
temperature stabilization zone in each unit cell. With the new patented
innovation end customers can expect a more compact fuel cell stack, which
simplifies integration and opens up for more potential applications, a better
life time i.e. more hours of operation, as well as a robust fuel cell stack
that can handle more diverse operating conditions.

"Thanks to our outstanding engineers our fuel cell stack PowerCell S2 will,
with this new patented innovation, become more stable and easier for customers
to use, as it can handle more diverse conditions and operating conditions. The
patent application is also sent to other countries outside EU", said Per
Ekdunge, Executive Vice President and CTO, PowerCell Sweden AB.

Behind the innovation are PowerCells own engineers, all Ph. D Andreas Boden,
Thomas Tingelöf and Axel Baumann Ofstad and the by PowerCell hired consultants
Jari Ihonen (VTT, Finland) and Anders Tenstam (Volvo Technology).

PowerCell Sweden has developed fuel cell technology for more than a decade, and
has perfected a unique design that enables the production of a light, versatile
and reliable source of power for most applications.

About PowerCell Sweden AB (publ)
PowerCell Sweden AB (publ) is the leading fuel cell company in the Nordics,
which develops and produces environmentally friendly power systems for
stationary and mobile customer applications.

PowerCell has developed a modular system of fuel cell platforms, powered by
clean environmentally friendly produced hydrogen where only electricity, heat
and water are emissions. The fuel cells are also designed to handle the
reformed hydrogen from e.g. biogas, natural gas, biodiesel or standard diesel.

In case hydrogen infrastructure is missing, PowerCell has combined its leading
fuel cell and reformer technology and developed a fuel cell system, PowerPac,
which converts standard diesel, with hydrogen, into electricity. This is done
in an energy efficient and environmentally friendly way, in which emissions of
carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and particles are completely eliminated and
the carbon dioxide is greatly reduced compared with a conventional diesel
engine.

PowerCell Sweden AB (publ) is listed on First North at Nasdaq Stockholm and is
an industrial spinout from the Volvo Group. G&W Fondkommission is appointed
Certified Adviser by the Company. Among the largest owners are Midroc New
Technology, Fouriertransform, Finindus and Volvo Group Venture Capital. For
