AkzoNobel seeks to intensify dialog with shareholders

June 2, 2017

AkzoNobel N.V. (AKZA.AS; AKZOY)

AkzoNobel today announces it will embark on a program to actively solicit the views of shareholders, including those who have recently challenged the company, specifically regarding how to provide further insight into its strategy and decisions in respect of PPG's proposals.

Building on the extensive dialog to date, this marks the next step in a number of engagement activities the company will undertake with the purpose of improving shareholder relationships. The Boards of AkzoNobel will thoroughly review and consider the feedback received from shareholders in order to determine appropriate additional next steps.

Ton Buchner, CEO, AkzoNobel said:

"We highly value shareholder perspectives and regret that a number of shareholders believe we have insufficiently explained our considerations in respect of PPG's proposals.

"We understand our responsibility and accountability to shareholders and will do our best to provide further insight in order to increase understanding concerning our strategic decisions. We will be seeking and listening to feedback with an aim to improving these important relationships."
