Boston Pizza completes its first-ever urban location with an OpenAire retractable roof

Boston Pizza brings new life to a historic Yonge Street building with a unique 1,300-square-foot retractable skylight, created by OpenAire

OAKVILLE, Ontario, Oct. 11, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- After months of dedication and work, Boston Pizza has brought new life to a historic Yonge Street building in Downtown Toronto with a unique new restaurant concept, all topped by a huge retractable roof designed and built by OpenAire. This 1,300-square-foot skylight lets visitors enjoy great casual dining in an open, outdoor-style atmosphere at any time of year. Both Boston Pizza and OpenAire are excited to announce that this new restaurant is now open to the public, offering Boston Pizza’s premium menu choices in the energetic and vibrant atmosphere of Toronto’s streets.

“Boston Pizza’s new urban design concept is scalable and can fit anywhere which makes it very easy for us to customize each and every location,” said Helen Langford, Senior Vice President, Foodservices, Boston Pizza International. “The showpiece of this particular location at Yonge and Gerrard Streets in Toronto is our all-season patio with the OpenAire retractable roof. We are excited to bring patio season to Torontonians and visitors all year long.”

OpenAire’s customized skylight design measures 27 feet by 49 feet and is divided into three telescoping sections that open to let in the natural light and fresh air of sunny days, as well as the beauty of starry nights. The roof closes at the touch of a button at the first sign of cold or inclement weather, yet its large glazed panels still give visitors plenty of natural light. With its bold metropolitan design and prime location in the heart of the downtown core, the uniquely-styled Boston Pizza at 401 Yonge St. is sure to appeal to guests and keep them coming back for more.
