It has been documented that the morgues are so crowded that a Burger King refrigerated truck was actually used to keep bodies cold so the medical examiner could perform their autopsy without bodily deterioration.
The state of Florida has other issues compounding the heroin / opioid epidemic. Drug treatment facilities, that are suppose to help the heavily addicted heroin addict, are in many cases keeping their clients loaded in order to reap large insurance payouts. Many addicts who have their lives on the line have to deal with drug dealers and clients inside the facilities using drugs. They are simply too weak to stay away for the drug. Besides rampant drug use in many of these drug treatment centers it is common practice for some facility owners to sell or trade their clients to other facilities for a finders fee. This is commonly referred to as body brokering which has now brought the state and federal officials into the picture as payouts of $8,000 to $12,000 per client is happening daily. It is about to come to a halting stop.
The good news is that there are some super treatment facilities throughout the United States, not to mention Miami which sports some outstanding holistic centers of their own. As the addiction industry starts to regulate itself along with the help of state and federal officials we should start to see much better care, giving the hopeful addict a chance of recovering and a life of sobriety. Finding the right drug rehabilitation center can be life changing for the addict.
The government is facilitating a plan with an extremely strong tone and consequences deterring addicts and dealers from dabbling in the heroin / opioid world. The words death sentence or life in prison or being thrown around. This actually may be what it takes to slow down the death toll in our nation.
