Nexamp’s Newest Solar Project in Webster to Generate Over $1 Million in Savings for Local Community

Facility sited on Harrington HealthCare at Webster campus benefits local residents and businesses

WEBSTER, Mass., May 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Nexamp, Inc., a leading provider of solar energy solutions, today announced the completion of its 25th community solar project in Massachusetts. Located on the Webster campus of Harrington HealthCare System, the facility was recently approved for operations after having completed construction at the end of 2017.

Through the Commonwealth’s popular net metering program, Harrington HealthCare will realize the benefit of direct savings and lower operating costs for the hospital’s energy expenses. Additionally, dozens of nearby residents will earn electricity cost savings of 15% per year by subscribing to the project through Nexamp’s leading Solarize My Bill™ community solar program. Over the lifetime of the project, the hospital and surrounding community can expect to save well over $1,000,000.

“Our involvement with this solar project is, in many respects, a natural extension of our commitment to providing reliable services to Webster and the surrounding community,” Harrington HealthCare CFO Thomas Sullivan said. “The monthly savings from Nexamp will result in a direct and meaningful benefit to the patients we serve and the System’s bottom line.”

With 4,199 solar panels installed, the 1,048-kilowatt (kW) facility will generate approximately 1,299,000 kilowatt hours (kWh) per year, and well in excess of 25,000,000 kWh over the project’s lifetime. Webster Solar produces enough electricity to power nearly 150 homes annually, roughly equivalent to offsetting 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide or taking 207 cars off the road. Through Nexamp’s Solarize My Bill™ community solar program, residential, small business, and non-profit subscribers can support local renewable energy while benefiting from the cost savings on electricity generated by the project.

“Each new community solar project in the Commonwealth is a testament to the thoughtful design of Massachusetts’ solar policies to date, and an opportunity to fulfill the shared mission to expand access to the benefits of solar energy,” Nexamp CEO Zaid Ashai said. “It’s especially rewarding, and doubly impactful, when we’re able to do so in partnership with a provider of critical community services like Harrington HealthCare.”

As a homegrown company with nearly 100 employees, Nexamp continues to fuel the local clean energy transition through a commitment to the burgeoning community solar market in the Bay State. By the end of 2018, the company is projected to serve thousands of Massachusetts households, small businesses, and non-profits across nearly 30 community solar projects. Even as it awaits the implementation of the long-anticipated Solar Massachusetts Renewable Target (SMART) program, the company is expanding operations in several new community solar markets, including New York, Illinois, and Maryland.
