Penn Capital announces the expansion of the PRIME Program

PHILADELPHIA, May 31, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Penn Capital Management Company, Inc. (Penn Capital) is proud to announce the PRIME (Philadelphia Regional Investing Mentorship Experience) Program has expanded with two additional outreach initiatives: The PRIME Program Internship and The PRIME Program Scholarship.

The PRIME Program Internship: The PRIME Program sponsors an internship opportunity for a collegiate female majoring in business or finance to work closely with the investment team at Penn Capital. The intern will learn directly from portfolio managers, investment analysts, and traders and gain valuable in-depth work experience. Candidates will be selected from local colleges and universities.

The PRIME Program Scholarship: The PRIME Program sponsors a scholarship to the Valley Forge Military Academy and College for a female recipient majoring in business or finance. An annual fundraising event is held to benefit the Scholarship.

“We are pleased to share our investment experience with the future leaders of tomorrow by participating in the PRIME Program Internship and supporting the Scholarship. These programs provide both educational and hands-on work opportunities to collegiate females who are interested in careers in finance, and Penn Capital is excited to offer the crucial first steps on the path towards achieving these career goals,” said Richard Hocker, Founder, Chief Investment Officer & Chief Executive Officer.

The PRIME Program: The PRIME Program was founded in 2017 and is dedicated to improving girls’ economic mobility through educating, mentoring, and empowering the next generation of women investment professionals. The PRIME Program supports both gender and racial diversity within the finance industry. The tremendous success of the PRIME Program’s inaugural year at The Academy @ Palumbo has been extremely encouraging and it inspired the expansion to the Internship and the Scholarship. According to Lindsay Heckman, PRIME Program Director and Manager of Financial and Tax Reporting, “The Program’s eight workshops focused on financial literacy and sparked engaging and lively discussions among the PRIME participants. We were thrilled to see the level of engagement and student interaction grow throughout the course of the Program.”
