MAVERICK PAC TO CONTRIBUTE $100,000 TO CANDIDATES IN THE FIGHT TO DEFEND GOP MAJORITY

This comes as the leading conservative young donor PAC appoints a new Executive Director to support major growth

Washington, D.C., Sept. 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Today, Maverick PAC (MAVPAC), the premier donor network of conservative young professionals, announced important steps towards defending the Republican majority in Congress and growing the organization’s impact beyond 2018. Kenny Cunningham has been appointed as the new Executive Director for MAVPAC, where his first initiative will be to oversee MAVPAC’s collective contribution of $100,000 to GOP candidates in competitive races leading up to Election Day.

The MAVPAC Board will give the maximum contribution of $5,000 to the Senate campaigns of Martha McSally (AZ) and Rick Scott (FL), and the House campaigns of Andy Barr (KY-6), Scott Taylor (VA-2), and Michael Waltz (FL-6) for a collective contribution of $25,000; four of the five candidates receiving contributions are military veterans. The remaining $75,000 will be distributed to select GOP candidates who are nominated and voted on by MAVPAC members. All contributions come from MAVPAC members, who are young professionals -- under forty years of age -- who live and work in cities and regions across the United States.

“The upcoming elections will define the GOP for years to come, and ensuring Republicans keep the majority in Congress is an important step for the Party’s long-term success, which is why MAVPAC is stepping up with this significant contribution of $100,000 that will be distributed to the candidates who need it most,” said MAVPAC National Co-Chair Fritz Brogan. “We are excited to bring Kenny on board as Executive Director. His experience, energy and vision will build on MAVPAC’s achievements and will help take the organization to the next level. Kenny’s background and expertise in organizational leadership and conservative politics will be crucial for MAVPAC as we help shape the future of the Republican Party,” added National Co-Chair Morgan Ortagus.

Cunningham is a Director at Prism Group, where he manages communications strategy and advocacy operations for PACs, high-profile policymakers, and leading organizations. The selection of Cunningham for this role follows his leadership of the public relations campaigns for the Mavericks Conference, which has featured such prominent speakers as Vice President Mike Pence, Governors Greg Abbott (TX) and Asa Hutchinson (AR), Senator Ted Cruz (TX), Congressman Michael McCaul (TX), and Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke, among many others.

Since 2011, MAVPAC has supported 138 candidates running for Congress. During the 2016 election cycle, the organization contributed nearly $150,000 to Republican candidates. In the 2018 election cycle, MAVPAC has already contributed $70,000 and today’s announcement means the organization will contribute close to $200,000 by Election Day. Numerous former MAVPAC members have gone on to become Members of Congress, including Senator Ted Cruz, Representatives Carlos Curbelo (FL-26), Mike Gallagher (WI-8), Elise Stefanik (NY-21), Will Hurd (TX-23), Trey Hollingsworth (IN-9), and Ron Desantis (FL-6).
