Erria A/S Announces Establishment of New Business Division
September 20, 2018

Erria A/S is pleased to announce that it will shortly establish Erria Containers A/S, a new business division specializing in the facilitation of the sale and purchase of second-hand marine containers.

The objective of the new division is to enable shipping lines, leasing companies and other parties to dispose of their second-hand containers on competitive terms and in locations convenient to the sellers and the ultimate buyers.

“The board of Directors is keen to explore ways in which Erria A/S through technology and innovation can grow its business. Our view is that this new business division not only meets these criteria, but also enable us to capitalize on our existing set-up, resources and network,” says Peter Kristian Ellegaard, chairman of the board of directors of Erria A/S.

Headquartered in Denmark with initial operations in Ghana, the new business division will be a joint venture between Erria A/S, Rune Sørensen and Jakob Tørring.

Erria Containers A/S will be owned 67 percent by Erria A/S and 33 percent jointly by its managing directors and co-founders Mr. Sørensen and Mr. Tørring who both formerly held executive positions with A.P. Møller – Mærsk in Denmark and overseas.  In 2014, Mr. Sørensen established the global Maersk Line second-hand container disposal business unit, which he led until his resignation earlier this year.

The division has launched its commercial operations today 20th of September 2018 and is expected to marginally contribute positively to the 2018 EBITDA of Erria A/S.

“As part of our redefined growth strategy with an emphasis on technology and innovation, we are keen to embark on this new business line, which represents a unique opportunity to further positioning the Erria group for expansion in frontier and emerging markets such as Vietnam and Ghana where we already have business activities,” says Henrik N. Andersen, chief executive officer of Erria A/S.

“The aim of Erria Containers A/S is to establish itself as a multi-market provider of second-hand containers for various non-seaborne transportation uses. As the only container repair business in Ghana qualified to repair containers in accordance with global container shipping industry standards capitalizing on the existing resources and skill sets of Erria, we will bring a strong business proposition to the market.  Our strategy is to establish presences in four other markets in Africa over the next two to three years in close collaboration with local customers, suppliers and other partners,” says Mr. Sørensen.
