NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., April 01, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Evolus, Inc. (NASDAQ: EOLS), a performance beauty company with a customer-centric approach focused on delivering breakthrough products, today announced it expects the European Medicines Agency (EMA) Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) to adopt a formal opinion on the Nuceiva™ marketing authorization application (MAA) during the April 2019 Committee meeting.
Nuceiva™ (branded Jeuveau™ in the United States) is being evaluated by the EMA for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe vertical lines between the eyebrows seen at maximum frown (glabellar lines), when the severity of the above facial lines has an important psychological impact in adults below 65 years of age.
“We are actively addressing the CHMP’s final few questions in accordance with their timelines, which will enable them to adopt their formal opinion on our MAA during the April Committee meeting,” said Rui Avelar, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Research & Development at Evolus, Inc. “In the second quarter, in addition to an opinion in Europe, we look forward to publishing the largest head-to-head aesthetic pivotal trial of our neurotoxin versus BOTOX®, which was conducted in Europe and Canada. These data are highly anticipated in the scientific community, especially in the United States where, in the coming weeks, we’re set to launch the first new neurotoxin in nearly a decade.”
The CHMP opinion is a scientific recommendation for marketing authorization to the European Commission. If positive, the EMA grants the sponsor marketing authorization, which is applicable to all 28 European Union member states plus Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein.
