Dallas, TX, April 22, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In support of Earth Day, Jack Mason launches its first solar powered watch crafted from recycledand sustainable materials.
The Solar watch is an evolution of the Jack Mason Field watch. It’s composed of recycled and sustainable materials and has a sunset design on the caseback. The second crown controls the internal rotating bezel,which can be used to provide a very general directional bearing. With the integration of Epson VS43 movement, a solar cell sits just below the slightly translucent dial and charges its battery.
“No need to replace the battery, ever. The watch can run for six months on a full charge and charges with any light source indoors or outdoors,” said Peter Cho, Jack Mason Creative Director.
In addition to sustainable cork, the straps are made with a recently developed polyester upholstery created from recycled plastic bottles. The watch case is made of cast recycled stainless steel and uses wastage from other case manufacturing.
“To round out the box set we partnered with Rite in the Rain, a brand I’ve always been a fan of for both the tested quality of its product, but also its commitment to the environment,” said Colin Curry, Jack Mason Senior Designer.
The box set includes an all-weather notepad and pencils made from recycled newsprint provided by Rite in the Rain. Outside of Jack Mason’s normal special edition recyclable box, they chose to use a recycled paper wrapping to further decrease the amount of new material that goes into the packaging.
Proceeds from the sale of the Solar Watch or Box Set will benefit Conservation International’s forest conservation efforts. They strive to protect tropical forests around the world, working directly with the communities who live in, and depend on, these forests.
