ResponsiveEd Wins $15 Million Grant for High-Quality Charter School Expansion

LEWISVILLE, Texas, April 30, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ResponsiveEd, one of the nation's largest public charter school operators, has been awarded almost $15 million in federal grant dollars to be utilized over the next five years for expansion efforts. The U.S. Department of Education awarded the Texas-based nonprofit organization $14,945,568 as part of a Charter School Program (CSP) grant shared with 14 other charter management organizations.

The grants are designated to enable high-quality public charter schools to replicate and expand; increase the enrollment of existing charter schools and create new charter schools based on a high-quality charter school model.  Award recipients had to demonstrate the successes of their existing schools and propose specific future campuses to which the funds would be allocated.

“Our mission is to provide hope to all students and we are proud to see that vision realized on a federal level and given a better opportunity to succeed in our efforts with this additional funding,” says ResponsiveEd Director of Communications Billy Rudolph. “This grant will go a long way in helping us open our doors to more families who are searching for the right kind of education for their children.”

ResponsiveEd will use the funds toward efforts at 10 campuses across Texas, some of which will be new and others expansions of existing schools. Plans are to replicate and expand its credit-recovery model, Premier High School; open two Houston-area elementary schools designed for educationally disadvantaged families; open a new classical academy and expand two others; partner with Beaumont ISD to turn around a low performing school and open a second Foundation School for Autism.
