The Alpha Group Announces Rebrand to Project Text

The new brand - Subtext - reflects the company’s vision to create a more personal connection between content creators and their biggest fans

NEW YORK, Oct. 22, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Alpha Group, an in-house tech and media incubator within Advance Local, today announces the rebrand of the company’s fourth product spinout Project Text. Project Text will now be known as Subtext. The new brand reflects the company’s vision to provide subscribers with unique access to the insights and personalities they love while giving hosts a more personal platform to connect with their followers.

Subtext is an SMS-based platform that allows subscribers to cut through the noise, clutter and algorithms of social media, to have direct, personal conversations with the platform’s hosts. Subtext fosters genuine one-to-one interaction between hosts and their subscribers to create meaningful conversations on important topics. Since its founding earlier this year, Subtext has been adopted by respected media organizations and influential thought leaders across a variety of industries.

“Since Project Text was released earlier this year, we’ve seen really impressive growth across the platform. With 100+ hosts, 1,000,000+ texts sent and a churn rate of less than 3%, our users are making it clear that they love being a part of the platform” said Mike Donoghue, CEO and founder, Alpha Group. “Our talented hosts and dedicated subscribers told us that they wanted this to be more than just a project, so we listened.”

“We are excited about the Subtext rebrand as it represents our commitment to helping content publishers and audiences to better connect,” said David Cohn, co-founder and chief strategy officer, Subtext.
