IBChannel.com: Gateway to Utilize Transmeta Processor to Run AOL Web Appliances


IRVINE, Calif., May 30, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- IBC reported today that Gateway (NYSE:GTW) said it would use a processor from chip maker Transmeta to run Web appliances it is making with America Online (NYSE:AOL). Gateway said it tapped Transmeta to provide the operating system for the products, turning away from the combination of Intel (INTC:Nasdaq) hardware and Microsoft (Nasdaq:MSFT) software.
