Prodeo, Novellus and Applied Materials Announce Achievements in Semiconductor Industry

IRVINE, Calif., July 10, 2000 (PRIMEZONE) -- Novellus Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:NVLS), the productivity and innovation leader in thin film deposition technology for the global semiconductor industry, today introduced a new intermetal (IMD) process for copper dual damascene devices that delivers a combined effective dielectric constant of less than 3.0.

Moving in step with the speed of the industry, Applied Materials, the world's No. 1 chip equipment manufacturer, unveiled 21 new systems Monday, used to produce chips on 300 millimeter wafers. A move from 200mm wafer manufacturing to 300mm, allows 2.5 more chips to be placed on a single wafer, Applied (Nasdaq:AMAT) said, as well as reducing the cost of production.

Prodeo Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:PDEO), a provider of technical and manufacturing solutions to the worldwide semiconductor industry, announced today that a well respected U.S. based semiconductor manufacturer has ordered $2.4 million in furnace products from Prodeo's VSM Division.
