The Swedish subsidiary of Kemira Chemicals Oy, Kemira Kemi AB, has acquired a plant for the production of aluminium sulphate in the Czech Republic. The production plant will be part of the local subsidiary Kemwater ProChemie, whose turnover after the purchase will double to EUR 2,8 million (CZK 100 million, USD 2,5 million).
Kemira Chemicals is represented in the Czech Republic through its strategic business unit Kemwater with the two companies Kemifloc and Kemwater ProChemie. Kemifloc in Prerov produces iron based coagulants whereas those produced by Kemwater ProChemie in Kosmonosy are aluminium based. The deal further strengthens Kemwater’s position as a supplier of coagulants in the Czech Republic and to neighbouring countries.
This acquisition is in line with the strategy of the Kemira Group, whereby water treatment, the pulp and paper industry and the paint industry have been recognised as future growth areas.
Kemira Chemicals' business unit Kemwater, based in Helsingborg, Sweden is the world’s biggest producer of coagulants for water treatment with production plants in 30 countries. The number of employees is 900.
