Vodafone Sverige AB: New Mobile Company Service Makes Field Work Simpler

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 30, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Vodafone Sweden, IBM and application developer, isMobile, have together developed a mobile company service with a positioning function that will make the work of installation and service organisations conducting field work simpler and more efficient.

This mobile solution is based on isMobile's application, Bla Coordinator (Blue Coordinator), and enables field workers to take on new assignments, submit work reports via their mobile terminals wherever they happen to be and coordinate with each other on the field. In addition, the service's inbuilt positioning and scheduling system allows the service organisation's control centre to keep track of its staff's geographical positions, enabling it to allocate assignments and duties more efficiently to the available staff closest to the relevant locations. The service is mainly designed for companies with large service organisations such as power, telecoms, building, property and forwarding companies.

In addition to developing this solution, Vodafone Sweden, IBM and isMobile have also signed a letter of intent concerning the joint marketing, sales and implementation of the concept.

"We have great faith in this service, since it allows companies with large service organisations to allocate their resources much more efficiently. Ultimately, the solution will enable these companies to offer their customers even better service. We believe that this is one of the service's key selling points," said Anders Sjoholm, Commercial Director, Corporate and Telematics, Vodafone Sweden.

In the collaboration involved in developing this solution, isMobile provides the software, IBM is responsible for implementing and integrating the service, and Vodafone Sweden handles the subscriptions, positioning service and mobile datacoms. Bla Coordinator is compatible with all types of terminals, which means that service staff can use the service on palmtops, laptops or mobile phones.
