LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18, 2002 (PRIMEZONE) -- Special Olympics Southern California announces its sixth annual Pier del Sol fundraiser to be held on Sunday, October 20th from 10am - 2pm at Pacific Park on the historic Santa Monica Pier.
Families, corporate supporters and celebrities will join Special Olympics athletes in this fun-filled day of thrilling rides, celebrity-run game booths, music, and gourmet food.
The day will feature live music by "Lisa Haley and the Zydekats" and a catered VIP Brunch by over thirty-five of LA's top restaurants including Melisse, Spago Beverly Hills, Valentino, Max and Chin Chin. Steve Caballero, Neal Hendrix, Omar Hassan & Cory Nastazio are just a few of the extreme sports stars that will be featured at the VANS Autograph Booth. A silent auction with many exciting items including a signed baseball from Anaheim Angels Outfielder Garret Anderson will also take place during the event.
Kathleen Kennedy of the Kennedy/Marshall Company, one of Hollywood's top producers has been chosen as this year's Pier del Sol honoree. The event is presented by Westfield Corporation and its Southern California Shoppingtowns.

Funds raised by the event will support the year-round programs of Special Olympics Southern California, which serves more than 11,000 children and adults in eleven Southern California counties.
