SOLNA, Sweden, June 02, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- NCC Construction AS has been commissioned to remodel the Stortinget property block and Tollbugaten 31 buildings in Oslo, the location of the Norwegian Parliament. The turnkey contract is worth approximately SEK 155 million (NOK 136 million).
The project comprises the remodeling of a total of about 10,000 square meters of floor space. Work will commence as soon as possible and proceed for two years. At most, 50 employees will participate in the remodeling process.
The first phase of the assignment involves Tollbugaten 31. Work there will be complex, entailing a total renovation of the interior, which will require the installation of new elevators, an underground network of passageways and new technical systems.
The ensuing phase will involve improvements of communications between Tollbugaten 31 and the many other buildings housing the Norwegian Parliament. This will be achieved by extending existing atriums and equipping these with glass roofs, and by constructing internal footbridges and panoramic elevators.
Following the renovations, the Stortinget block and Tollbugaten 31 will comprise modern, high-quality premises, while the original character of the buildings will be preserved.
