The NEA (Association of Union Constructors) sponsors this prestigious award.
Winners are selected through the NEA Safety and Health Committee in three different categories as determined by the volume of work hours. Kvaerner Songer received the award for Category I - which includes contractors that have expended one million work hours or more. The award recognises the company with the best safety record in terms of lost time incident rates.
Kvaerner Songer competed for this award against several nationally recognised contractors. The award was presented at the NEA's annual meeting in Tucson, Arizona, and was presented to James H. Miller, President of Kvaerner Songer and Bob Hoover, Vice President - Labor Relations & Safety.
"We have received an honourable mention for this award for the past ten years, and it is extremely gratifying to finally win it. HSE has been, and will always continue to be, top priority at Aker Kvaerner, and all of our employees should be congratulated for their hard work and efforts," said James H. Miller, President of Kvaerner Songer.
