Wireless Conference Wraps Compelling Sessions and Interactive Demos Around Fun and Entertainment; Senior Execs from mBlox, Proteus, and Qualcomm to Deliver Keynotes

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 4, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- Mobile communications leaders from around the world will convene in three weeks at Global Mobile 2003, a one-of-a-kind wireless conference taking place in San Diego, California, September 24-26. This year's conference theme is "In Search of the Killer App." For more information and to register, visit www.sms.ac/globalmobile.

Global Mobile 2003 was created as a unique experience for attendees, incorporating provocative discussions, educational demonstrations and high-energy networking events into a beautiful, waterfront setting.

A stellar line-up of senior executives that represent a broad spectrum of wireless companies are scheduled to participate in the two-day Global Mobile event, with high-octane keynote addresses to be delivered by Andrew Bud, chairman of mBlox, and Patrick McQuown, president and co-founder of Proteus.

Global Mobile 2003 welcomes attendees on Wednesday, September 24, with the first of two "Always Connected" networking parties that will be accented by a performance from the musical group Lapdog (former members of the superstar band, Toad the Wet Sprocket).

The festive atmosphere of Global Mobile 2003 will be further punctuated by an array of food and beverages that are included with event registration. Samuel Adams beer, the "Official Beer of Global Mobile 2003," is also on-tap for attendees. The second "Always Connected" networking party, scheduled for Thursday evening, will bring internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter Rick Monroe and his band to the Global Mobile stage at scenic Marina Village.

"From the outset, our objective was to embody Global Mobile 2003 with the same dynamic energy that pervades the mobile communications industry," said Kevin Trimble, the event's coordinator. "Global Mobile 2003 will break the mold for industry conferences, bringing together the perfect combination of high-profile presentations, interactive panel discussions and cutting-edge demos, coupled with sensational food fare and world-class entertainment."

Nearly 100 industry experts and executives spanning four continents will participate in panel discussions on topics ranging from mobile marketing and next-generation handsets, to killer applications, premium messaging and distribution of content.

Napoleon Cole, CEO of Octane Mobile, will lead an exploration of value-added mobile applications for SMS and MMS. Additionally, Jill Morgan, publisher of Billing World and OSS Today, will guide a dialogue that will include integrated billing for third parties. And Curtis Wick of LG InfoComm will direct a discussion on next-generation mobile devices. A new session on mobile gaming, one of the hottest segments in the mobile data industry, has been added to the first-day agenda. "The rate of change in our industry is blinding as we face issues ranging from digital rights and local number portability, to interoperability and billing integration," said Michael Pousti, chairman and chief executive officer at SMS.ac, Inc. (www.sms.ac). "We could not have asked for a better cross-section of representation from the mobile industry. With virtually every segment of wireless communications represented at Global Mobile 2003, relationships will be forged that will shape tomorrow's mobile landscape. If you are involved in any way with mobile communications, we believe this is a must-attend event."

Lunch breaks during the conference will be worth attending, as well. With the price of registration, attendees can enjoy epicurean delights from Ranch Catering and Steve Abbo Restaurants.
