BuyMagazine Goes All-Digital

Instant Access and New Interactive Format Allow Customers to Experience More

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Sept. 10, 2003 (PRIMEZONE) -- BuyMagazine today announced that it has revolutionized its format and is now all-digital, giving readers instantaneous access to over 1 million products, exclusive celebrity interviews, great product reviews and low prices on the most popular brand names. Instead of being mailed to 600,000 customers, the all-new digital BuyMagazine will be emailed and reach an unprecedented 3.5 million of Buy.com's customers.

"The Buy family of companies, which is called Buy Network, continues to show its leadership position and innovation by launching a music store and now a digital magazine before its competition," said Scott Blum, founder and CEO of Buy.com, BuyMusic.com and BuyMagazine.

"Going all-digital has allowed us to greatly enhance the customer experience and significantly extend our reach," said Stew Duncan, publisher of BuyMagazine. "It's a whole new interactive relationship with our customers. For example, instead of only reading about a new CD from your favorite band, you can also sample songs or even download the whole album. Or, rather than simply viewing a cool ad promoting the next big Hollywood blockbuster, now with one click you can view the trailer."

The shopping experience will also be more simplified and convenient. With the new online magazine, when customers find a great deal on a product, they can simply click on it and add it to their Buy.com shopping basket. Because the magazine can be updated instantly, it will now offer up-to-the-minute prices, rebates and special offers.

According to Digital Magazine News' premier issue, also debuting this month, electronic distribution is a hot new genre into which venture capitalists are now pouring an estimated $50-$100 million. In the issue, Don Kummerfeld, president of the International Federation of Periodical Press (FIPP), welcomes the new genre and adds that "electronic magazines will...allow us to interact with and get much closer to our individual readers." Hundreds of other magazines including Forbes, The New Yorker, Popular Mechanics and Financial Times have all launched digital versions of their magazines.

BuyMagazine features which will carry over from the print version include the regular "Top 10 Hot Picks" list, highlighting top products in a variety of popular categories, including music, videos, books, computers, games, cellular products and more. Celebrity covers and exclusive feature articles will continue, highlighting the cast of NBC's "Will and Grace" in the September issue.

BuyMagazine has created a buzz in the entertainment world since instituting celebrity covers and exclusive feature articles in January 2003. The April issue, featuring exclusive photos of Academy Award(r)-winning artist Eminem, took the entertainment industry by storm, garnering attention from Entertainment Tonight, MTV and VH1. Past cover celebrities include Matt Damon, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Eminem, Leonardo DiCaprio, Halle Berry and most recently Jennifer Garner.
