Neoware Takes Hardware Obsolescence Out of Thin Client Computing by Providing the Latest Citrix Client Enhancements via Software Upgrades

Neoware's Standards-Based Approach to Thin Client Development Enables it to Offer the Latest Capabilities Ahead of its Competition -- Today and Tomorrow

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 14, 2003 - Neoware Systems (Nasdaq:NWRE), the leading supplier of award-winning software, services and thin-client appliances, today announced the availability of software upgrades that enable customers to take advantage of the latest advances in technology from Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:CTXS) without replacing their thin-client hardware.

Neoware's "ezSnap" snap-in software for the Citrix(r) ICA(r) 7.0 Client, which is available today, gives customers access from IBM, Boundless and Neoware thin clients to the most recent enhancements to Citrix MetaFrame(r) Presentation Server for Windows(r), providing secure, easy and instant access to enterprise applications and information on demand.

Thin client customers are often required to replace their existing thin client devices to gain access to the latest features of server software. Neoware's software-based approach to thin client computing takes obsolescence out by enabling customers to leverage their existing investments in hardware, gaining access to the latest technologies via software upgrades at much lower cost. As an example of this philosophy, Neoware is making the latest version of the Citrix ICA Client available, not only on its newest thin client appliances, but also to users of its installed NeoStation 3000 and Eon thin clients, as well as thin clients from other manufacturers, including Boundless and IBM.

Neoware's standards-based approach to thin client development enables it to offer the latest features more quickly than competitors. Because Neoware leverages industry- standard operating systems such as embedded versions of Windows(r) and Linux(r) -- instead of writing its own proprietary operating systems -- it can provide customers with the latest features quickly, without the added time required to port to a proprietary operating system. This enables Neoware's customers to stay ahead - today and tomorrow - confident that they will always have access to the latest thin client capabilities.

New features included with the Citrix ICA 7.0 Client include:

 -- SpeedScreen(tm) browser acceleration

 -- Dynamic client name support

-- Improved Auto Client Reconnect - If network problems cause a
session to disconnect, users have more options for reconnecting to
    their disconnected session.

-- Universal Print Driver enhancements -- Users can print in color
and at a higher (600 dpi) resolution.

-- Printer management enhancements -- Client printer options are
enhanced to include improved client printer mapping, automatic and
on-demand replication of printer drivers and printer resource
    assignment.

-- Support for rounded corners on seamless windows (Windows XP theme
    and custom application window design)

-- Support for certificate revocation list checking

Neoware customers can automatically update their thin client appliances using Neoware's "ezSnap" technology, which adds the latest features without having to download an entire operating system or replace hardware, reducing bandwidth requirements and eliminating the need for a system administrator to travel from desk to desk.

"When used with Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server software, Neoware's thin client appliances are an excellent solution for providing cost-effective access to enterprise applications," said Garry Olah, Citrix senior director, Business Development. "Neoware and Citrix share the vision that centralizing application administration and deployment is the most effective way to enhance IT efficiency and lower computing costs."

To take advantage of the latest Citrix server enhancements, Neoware customers on current maintenance agreements can download Citrix ICA 7.0 from the company's Web site at http://www.neoware.com/downloads/snapin.html. Neoware customers without maintenance agreements, as well as IBM and Boundless customers, can upgrade to Neoware's latest software for $49 per unit.

"Neoware continues to be a leading supporter of Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server by providing access to the latest Citrix enhancements across our entire line of desktop thin clients, as well as thin clients from other manufacturers," commented Michael Kantrowitz, Chairman and CEO of Neoware Systems. "Our software-based approach to thin client computing takes obsolescence out by enabling customers to gain access to the latest features without replacing their hardware. Because Neoware embraces industry standards, our customers are able to stay ahead -- today and tomorrow -- with the latest software capabilities."
