Travel Expert Stephanie Abrams Sheepishly Sponsors 'Sheeptacular Pittsfield!' Bringing the Berkshire Mountains to her Nationally Syndicated Radio Show

NEW YORK, March 4, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Stephanie Abrams, globally renowned travel expert, has jumped in to support the "Sheeptacular Pittsfield," event planned for the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts this summer from June 5 to September 18, 2004. Merino sheep have a historical connection to Pittsfield and one of its unique attractions, Hancock Shaker Village. Huge sheep forms, made from special mold to create the look of Merino Sheep, were delivered to Pittsfield this week to be distributed to local artists who will create their selected designs on the sheep. Local businesses are participating as sponsors of individual sheep.

"New York City had its cows and Toronto had moose, Abrams explains, "and we are just thrilled that the beautiful Berskshire Mountains will be alive this summer with the presence of Merino Sheep, placed in abundance all over downtown Pittsfield, that are each uniquely painted by professional artists who are sheepishly participating!" Abrams says. "This is going to be a fantastic event in the most beautiful outdoor setting where everywhere you look you are surrounded by the peaks of the Berkshire Mountains. A magnificent scenic 2-hour drive from Boston or New York City will culminate in one of those memorable, uplifting, and enriching experiences that people look for when they travel," Abrams explains.

Listeners of "Travel WITH Stephanie Abrams!" -- heard coast-to-coast simultaneously in the 7pm to 9pm EST time slot on the Business Talk Radio Network -- will learn about the Berkshires, America's Premier Cultural Resort, where, "everything offered is World Class!" Guests on Sunday, March 7th, include: Bill Wilson, CEO of the Berkshire Visitors Bureau; Mary Rentz, Chair of "Sheeptacular Pittsfield!"; Richard Rothbard, owner of An American Craftsman and the new An American Craftsman Cafe in Stockbridge, Massachusetts; Christian Goodwillie, Curator of Hancock Shaker Village; Bill Powers, Director of the Berkshire Opera Company; and Kim Noltemy, Director of Marketing for the Boston Symphony Orchestra, which makes its summer home at Tanglewood in the Berkshires.

The program will include its weekly Caribbean Corner feature with this week's guest, Michael Bryant, VP of Sunswept Resorts, talking about "A day in the life of a guest!" at one of their properties, which include Rendezvous and The Body Holiday Le Sport in St. Lucia and La Source in Granada.

"It's exciting having some of the wonderful people who add the sizzle to the visitor's experience in the Berkshires. I travel all over the world but this is where I choose to call home," Abrams states. "And for people who have never been to the Berkshire Mountains, Sheeptacular Pittsfield is one more reason to make a visit to the Berkshires a must for this summer season," Abrams states. Abrams' award-winning website, www.sabrams.com, will feature information and photos related to the event.
