Great American Insurance Company Completes Enterprise-Wide Deployment of Telelogic DOORS

Replaces Existing Requirements Management Tool in Favor of DOORS' Industry-Leading Traceability

IRVINE and Calif. and MALMO, Sweden, May 17, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Telelogic (Stockholm:TLOG), the leading global provider of solutions for advanced software and systems development, today announced that Great American Insurance Company, one of the oldest and most respected insurance companies in the nation, has completed an enterprise-wide deployment of DOORS(R), which has become the company's standard for requirements management (RM).

Great American will utilize DOORS to support all software development and maintenance across the enterprise. In addition, DOORS will be used to support additional large-scale projects such as telecommunications and infrastructure expansion as the company builds new networks to serve its customers. The original contract, which was previously announced in February, is valued at US$132,000 and includes training and consulting services.

Great American Insurance identified process improvement in requirements engineering as a top priority last year. An evaluation was conducted by the Technology Operating Committee in order to implement a standard RM tool for Great American and its parent company American Financial Group (AFG) to meet current and future needs of its IT Services Division.

``What we were looking for in a solution was a software tool that would provide a solid infrastructure for a formal requirements management practice," said Pete Carrion, Divisional Vice President of Requirements Management for AFG ITServices. ``Among the business needs identified for an RM program by the committee were elimination of ambiguous and out-of-date requirements definitions, reduction in the cost of rework from errors introduced when entering requirements, improvement in the return on investment, and attainment of effective testing and requirements traceability."

"DOORS provides the most robust and automatic traceability of requirements throughout a project lifecycle," said Carrion. "Its multiple traceability views display the full details or context of what's impacted. We were impressed with the software's ability to drag and drop the creation of links, the fact that hyperlinks from traceability grids allow data to be modified from a traceability view, and that traceability is evident down to the source code level."

"Telelogic DOORS is widely regarded as the leading solution by many industry analyst firms and by leading organizations that conduct head-to-head comparisons with other requirements management tools," said Scott Raskin, president of Telelogic Americas and Asia/Pacific. "With today's release of DOORS 7.1, Telelogic further extends the market leading capabilities of DOORS with new enhancements that deliver significant value to large and small development organizations alike."
