WHAT San Diego Gas & Electric, San Diego Regional Energy Office and County Board Chairwoman Dianne Jacob will commemorate the explosive growth of solar power in San Diego by giving an award to the 1,500th net metering customer in the region. Net metering allows a customer to send electricity into the energy grid, and solar power produces its excess power during hot afternoons when energy is needed most.
