Scania chooses Alfdex -- the new environmental solution for cleaning of crankcase gases

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Sept. 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Alfa Laval, a world leader in centrifugal separation, heat transfer and fluid handling, informs that Alfdex AB, the jointly owned company between Alfa Laval and Haldex, have received a letter of intent from Scania concerning deliveries of the Alfdex system. Serial deliveries are intended to start early next year.

On several markets in the Western world and Asia, the environmental restrictions are now being more severe as regards various emissions from engines. One such restriction is the sharp reduction of oil droplets and soot particles in the crankcase ventilation gases that are emitted from diesel engines.

The Alfdex system, which is based on Alfa Laval's leading position within centrifugal separation, offers the market a highly efficient solution to the problem in question.

The interest in the Alfdex system is great and most of the diesel engine manufacturers in Europe and the US have successfully tested, or are testing, the system. The Alfdex system is intended for 5 to 16 litre diesel engines, which roughly correspond to diesel engines for medium heavy and heavy trucks, as well as for buses, construction equipment and marine and industrial applications. The global market potential for the Alfdex system is estimated to 1 billion SEK.
