HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that the Dutch subsidiary of its SGB access services division has secured a $3.5 million contract to expand its on-site access equipment and E&D (erection and dismantling) services at SABIC's polypropylene plant in Geleen, Holland. The expanded services will support an upcoming plant-wide maintenance cycle scheduled for early next year.
The work will begin in January 2005 and is due for completion in early April. Harsco's SGB division works extensively with SABIC, one of the world's leading petrochemical producers, to support plant maintenance at several of its operations in Saudi Arabia, Holland and Germany.
SGB's Group Operations Director John Barrett said a key factor in SGB's selection was the strength of its ongoing safety record at the Geleen plant, where SGB has been providing on-site access services and equipment since early 2002 under a separate $20 million, three-year contract. Another factor was SGB's ability to respond quickly to SABIC's specifications with the full breadth of powered and non-powered access requirements, including the specialized steel-floored scaffolding requested by SABIC for increased safety, fire protection and stability within the plant.
