New Book Reveals the Rediscovery of a Long Lost Musical Blueprint

HOCKESSIN, Del., Sept. 29, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- To those who may be unfamiliar with the name, Aristoxenus was the first Greek musical theorist of note. His treatise, Elementa Harmonica, is considered to be the earliest substantial textbook on music theory that is preserved. Unfortunately, much of what he wrote has been lost, including what is held as the key that unlocked the objective power of music -- the enharmonic genus. But owing to Mitzi DeWhitt's tireless efforts, this ancient musical code has been recovered as revealed in her brilliant new book, Aristoxenus's Ghost. This monumental rediscovery promises a holistic revolution that will change our ideas about everything we think we know.

The most fascinating component of the book is the author's amazing rediscovery of the matrix, or the basic musical blueprint, that reveals the universal laws. This blueprint, called by the ancient Greeks the katapyknosis, will not only shed new light on the conundrums of quantum physics, but will also impact cosmology, biology, and the other physical sciences. As one studies the material, there comes the dawning realization that this information can, once and for all, provide solid mathematical evidence of an underlying objective basis for all true spiritual teachings.

In Aristoxenus's Ghost, DeWhitt integrates the knowledge of science with the faith of religion, and demonstrates how music, both physical and metaphysical, speaks the universal language understood by both. Far from negating the spiritual, the science of musical ratio and proportion proves the objective truths that underlie the perennial teachings. This, consequently, presents the reader with a whole new worldview that is able to explain the tenets of religion, philosophy, and consciousness in terms that are no longer subjective and deniable.

About the Author

Mitzi DeWhitt, a retired concert pianist and accompanist with graduate degrees in music theory, brings to this work an academic and practical background. For over thirty years, she has been engaged in reenvisioning music, taking special interest in its hidden encrypted structure as the third force that integrates the faith of religion with the tenets of science. What began many years ago as a mystical search for truth has culminated in a musical discovery of the highest caliber. A writer by avocation, a seeker by inclination, she currently teaches in the Philadelphia area.
