September Online Ad Spending Grows to More than $690 Million, AdZone Reports

NEW YORK, Nov. 15, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- AdZone Research Inc. (OTCBB:ADZR), a pioneering Internet surveillance technology solutions provider, and an advertising research firm that tracks advertising on some 2,700 Web sites worldwide, representing more than 95% of all Internet advertising revenue, today said in its latest Internet Advertising Report that in the month of September, the latest month for which actual figures are available, advertising spending on the Internet grew by more than $85 million.

The value of Internet advertising in September was $696.2 million, up 14% from August. "Technology continued its dominance as the top advertising category," said AdZone's Chief Operating Officer, John A. Cardona. "With more than $181 million in online spending, companies such as Dell Computer, Hewlett Packard and IBM continued their leadership among the top advertisers online in September."

"Finance, with online spending approaching $90 million, again was the second most active sector," Cardona continued. "This group was led by such discount brokers as Ameritrade and Scottrade, as well as Allstate Insurance. Strong and continued competition is represented in this marketplace," Cardona observed.

The COO also noted the strong performance of the telecom companies, especially in the wireless sector. Leading advertisers in September included AT&T Wireless, Verizon Wireless, Cingular and Bell South. "Online ad spending has remained steady at a very strong $650 million per month," Cardona noted. "We expect to see continued growth in online spending as the economy strengthens."

In addition to the technology and finance sectors, the other top online ad sectors for September, in descending order, were automotive ($64 million), retail ($61.7 million), business ($50 million), automotive ($57 million), travel ($47.4 million), home merchandise ($33.8 million), entertainment ($32.5 million), sports and leisure ($30.7 million) and health ($28 million). As the economy strengthens, the online marketplace will continue to be a dominant force in the advertising arena," the COO concluded.
