Mediware Reports Summary Judgment Against Global Med, Global Med to Pay Significant Fees and Costs

LENEXA, Kan., March 31, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Mediware Information Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:MEDW) announced today that the Superior Court of El Dorado County California ordered Global Med Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:GLOB) and its affiliate People Med, Inc., to pay approximately $670,000 in an award arising from a summary judgment entered in favor of a Mediware employee in October 2004. The court preliminarily notified the parties that Global Med and People Med would be required to pay the fees on March 9, 2005, and finalized the order on March 30, 2005. The awarded funds will be used to reimburse Mediware for amounts previously spent in defending the lawsuit brought by Global Med and People Med in 2002.

Commenting on the California State Court decision, George Barry, Mediware CEO said, "We are pleased to see the legal process work. Based on the clarity of the judge's decision, the good name of the defended employee should remain intact. Although we will work with the defendant and the court in an effort to ensure that all amounts awarded are collected, at this time we are unable to determine whether the entire amount will be collectable since the award appears to constitute a significant amount of Global Med's remaining cash, as reported in their last Form 10-K." Mr. Barry further noted that while Global Med and People Med have appealed the summary judgment underlying the fee award, Mediware is confident that the summary judgment will be upheld and also noted that any fees incurred during the appeal would also be subject to reimbursement, assuming the appeal is denied.
